n Irishman and a Swiss gentleman went to a bar in Hong Kong and … it should be the start of a classic joke but this was the start of a new direction for watches – the first since the digital watch arrived on the scene – SNGLRTY the one handed watch with accurate minute display. It was the process of reading time from a watch, both the classical two handed analogue and the digital display that had caught our interest - there had been no evolution in the display of time that simplified the reading of time – until now. Telling time from the classic two hand display needs to be decrypted from the positions of the hands, in contrast a digital display presents an answer. Our challenge was to display the time so that it does not require decryption but utilising a classic analogue movement. The logical consequence was to use the 12 hour display, but the challenge was to display the minutes accurately with the classic sweep of only the hour hand.
