Scout challenges the claims made by popular travel sites that their hotel rates are the best you're going to find anywhere. Scout is a Chrome extension that activates when you are on a hotel page on a travel site such as Expedia, Priceline or Booking.com. Scout looks at the lowest rate being advertised and then searches in the background to see if it can find a lower direct rate. Scout has special access to lower rates that are only available on the hotels' own websites and so it can often find you a great deal. If it finds a lower rate, Scout automatically displays a notification along with a button that takes you to the hotel's own site to book the lower rate and get additional perks of booking direct (e.g. points, free wifi, easier cancellation).
