Metro

Metro is a crowd-powered platform similar to Kickstarter, but instead of funding, we enable you to crowdsource data collected via community-made and open-sourced plugins which run in our web browser extensions and our smartphone app. We are going to make it as easy as possible for users to collect their own data and sell it. This is the “take back your data” idea done the correct way - by focusing on collection first. Currently we support Chrome, so you can collect any kind of data that can be produced - passively, or interactively - in a browser. We are two undergraduate students based on Dublin. We have been coding projects like this together for years, and one of those projects was featured at the Final Year Project Expo at our university when we were first year students. We have both interned at Amazon's internal team for collecting network data cross all of the Amazon network - including AWS - so we have experience building large-scale data-collection systems.
