HyJET

Development of a hybrid aircraft propulsion system.

HyJET is a design for a viable modular hybrid aircraft engine, that's designed to be powerful, economic and quiet. The main goal of the engine is to reduce emissions, and reduce costs for the airlines and ultimately the passengers. The main goal of the engine is to reduce emissions, and now is more important than ever, in 2015 the aerospace industry alone pumped out 781 million tonnes of CO2, and at any one time there's more than 6000 civil aircraft in the air, and this number is only due to grow. We need to reduce aerospace emissions by 90% as soon as 2050. Or even better, 2030. The HyJET system is a viable alternative for today's climate, not just a claim that will happen in decades, it uses today's technology to create a modular style hybrid system all built into a normal size engine design. the size is flexible too, which mean's it can be incorporated into a wide spectrum of aircraft design, and we aim to be able to retrofit it to small to medium aircraft.
